Chase Infinite of Self Scientific and designer Kevin Sanchez have gotten together with ELMCOMPANY to create a line of fitteds dubbed Designer Music. Inspired by the images and sounds that shaped the Golden Era of Hip Hop, this series of fitteds pays homage to the songs the caps represent.

The Summertime Fitted is the first cap to release under the Designer Music line. The design is inspired by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith’s classic song “Summertime”, the quintessential Summer anthem from their classic album Homebase. Released in 1991, the hats will be limited to 91 total pieces.

Who cant forget the images in the video? The classic Summertime BBQ seemed to capture the feel of the season. So they decided to take the inspiration from the BBQ scenes and created a hat that embodied the vibe of the song.

The fitted features a traditional red/white gingham pattern, embroidered watermelon patch, and a sublimated cloud print liner. The Summertime hat also features a quote from the classic Summer anthem, which is also fitting (pun intended) for the hat series “Just a little something break Monotony.

Soul Assassins comes together with Elm Company to produce “The Swords Fitted.” The Swords weave together on the front logo designed by Jeff Hamada which illustrates the bond that exists between the entire Soul Assassins family. The cap features a suede crown and visor while a soft satin lining finishes off the inside. The caps are limited to 144 pieces and released at Soul Assassins August 1.

Designer Music – Music has changed. Music is disposable. More people seem interested in the things that their favorite artists’ are into, more than their music. Today, everything design related has taken precedence over the music. It is as if the music is secondary to sneakers, clothes, hats, and gadgets. As a result, artists spend more time developing their product, and less time perfecting the music. Some artists even view their craft solely as a platform to launch merchandise.

Designer Music is an exclusive, limited line produced by ELMCOMPANY in collaboration with Chace Infinite of Self Scientific and designer Kevin Sanchez on some Fitted Caps. The series is inspired by the images and sounds that shaped Golden Era Hip-Hop. For those that know, the caps are intended to pay homage to the songs they represent. For those that don’t know, we intend to educate and elevate.

Each Designer Music release is produced in quantities limited to the year the song came out and sold at only select Elm Company dealers. Each fitted cap is made in Los Angeles using the finest fabrics, components and craftsmanship. Keep an eye out for images of the first release, Summertime, in the next week or so on hathype.com.

Elm Company starts off its Summer 2009 collection with this Perforated Suede fitted cap which will be debuted at Know Show in Montreal. The cap has an all white perforated suede upper with purple eyelets and purple button on top. “Elm Company” is stitched on the front in cursive, also in purple. Add a purple under brim and lining and you have a very clean cap, but it will only be available at Know Show. A matching tee will also be released. Each season, Elmcompany limited continues to push the fitted cap with new fabric applications never before seen and never again to be produced. Each style is made in quantities of only 144 at their Los Angele’s facility using only the highest quality components, fabrics and construction. Summer Limited 08 is no exception.

The Hibiscus Flower has a traditional place not only in the Hawaiian culture but also stands as a symbol of Summer altogether. For Elmcompany’s Summer Limited release they introduced this symbol in three colorways of fitteds. Each cap features a wool blend crown and top visor matched with a cotton liner and under visor. The text of the front logo is embroidered in 3D while the Hibiscus Flower sits behind the text as flat embroidery. To add last touches is the staple leaf logo embroidered in the corner of the under visor.

Featured here are two caps resulting from a summer collaboration between Monsieur T and the Elm Company. The Mosaic sports a black and white mosaic design on the entire cap with a turquoise under bill, and the Le Zebre sports a zebra design on the back. Each fitted has a “T” logo on the front and an embroidered logo on the back. Only 72 models have been produced, each individually numbered. Available at Monsieur T. Via Strictly Fitteds.
