Designer Music – Music has changed. Music is disposable. More people seem interested in the things that their favorite artists’ are into, more than their music. Today, everything design related has taken precedence over the music. It is as if the music is secondary to sneakers, clothes, hats, and gadgets. As a result, artists spend more time developing their product, and less time perfecting the music. Some artists even view their craft solely as a platform to launch merchandise.

Designer Music is an exclusive, limited line produced by ELMCOMPANY in collaboration with Chace Infinite of Self Scientific and designer Kevin Sanchez on some Fitted Caps. The series is inspired by the images and sounds that shaped Golden Era Hip-Hop. For those that know, the caps are intended to pay homage to the songs they represent. For those that don’t know, we intend to educate and elevate.

Each Designer Music release is produced in quantities limited to the year the song came out and sold at only select Elm Company dealers. Each fitted cap is made in Los Angeles using the finest fabrics, components and craftsmanship. Keep an eye out for images of the first release, Summertime, in the next week or so on hathype.com.

Here are some custom Chicago Bulls New Era 59Fifty fitted caps by Rock ‘n’ Jocks. One cap features a black crown with a red brim and black under brim, with the Chicago Bulls “script” logo on the front, and a Bull logo on the back. The other cap featured here is the opposite of the first one described, with a red crown, black brim, red under brim, and “script” Chicago Bulls logo on the front, along with a Bulls logo on the back. Released Saturday, August 2nd 2008 is the Paper Cuts Pack by Fitted Hawaii. This particular pack is unique, which features a Paper Cut Fitted Hawaii New Era 5950 Fitted Cap, plus a matching T-Shirt. The T-Shirt drew inspiration from origami, and of course fitteds, while the Paper Cuts Fitted is a custom Los Angeles Dodgers cap which features a yellow bill, aqua back panels, grey fronts, black button, under bill and logo. Here’s a look at the New Era MLB Lineout fitted cap series at Lids. The caps feature a solid white color with team logos in the background, and a traditional team logo on the front of the cap. Featured here is a Toronto Blue Jays fitted cap. You can purchase this cap, or any other team, at Lids.

Elm Company starts off its Summer 2009 collection with this Perforated Suede fitted cap which will be debuted at Know Show in Montreal. The cap has an all white perforated suede upper with purple eyelets and purple button on top. “Elm Company” is stitched on the front in cursive, also in purple. Add a purple under brim and lining and you have a very clean cap, but it will only be available at Know Show. A matching tee will also be released. Only 50 caps and tees will be produced, so this one is super limited. Check out Elm Company for other custom fitted caps.

Black and Green voltage is a great match with the name of this New Era 59Fifty Fitted Hat, which is called “Intruder”. The front has stitched in “Cyber Flag 5950″, with the under brim, stitching throughout the cap, and the New Era logo in voltage green. To cop, check your local New Era retailers of Flagship stores.

Edit: Another nickname is “Press Start” which is stitched on the under brim.

We wanted to be the first to feature the Hella Tight Fitted Caps, and with help from our friend Josh at Hella Tight, we only felt it was right to feature them for our Celebrity Fridays. Lil Wayne, who is on top of the hip hop game, did the music video for “Got Money”, which features T-Pain. In the video Lil Wayne is rockin the Championship Belt hat made by Hella Tight Fitted Caps.
